TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE — RENT2MIAMI

Last Updated: October 24, 2026

Welcome to Rent2Miami (hereinafter referred to as “the Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing our website, making a reservation, or utilizing any of our vehicles or services, you (hereinafter referred to as the “Renter,” “Customer,” or “User”) agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read this document carefully before completing any transaction.

1. Booking Platform & Reservation Process

1.1. Powered by Wheelbase: All reservations, identity verification, payment processing, security deposit holds, and protection coverage selections are securely managed and processed through our fleet management and booking engine partner, Wheelbase (operated by Outdoorsy, Inc.).

1.2. Confirmation: A reservation is deemed confirmed only after the required payment or deposit has been successfully processed through Wheelbase and the Customer receives an official booking confirmation email containing a reservation ID.

2. Driver Requirements & Licensing

2.1. Minimum Age: The primary driver and any additional authorized drivers must be at least 21 years of age at the time of vehicle pickup. (A Young Driver Surcharge may apply to drivers aged 21 to 24).

2.2. Valid Driver’s License:

  • U.S. Residents: Must present a valid, unexpired state-issued driver’s license.
  • International Visitors: Must present an original, valid passport along with a valid driver’s license from their home country. An International Driving Permit (IDP) accompanied by the original license is strongly recommended (and may be required under Florida law if the home license is not in English).
2.3. Identity Verification: All drivers must successfully pass the automated identity verification and driver background check required by the Wheelbase system prior to vehicle key handoff.

3. Insurance Coverage & Security Deposit

3.1. Protection Plans: Every rental must maintain active insurance and collision coverage for the full duration of the rental period. Protection options, deductibles, and liability limits are selected and purchased directly through the Wheelbase platform during checkout.

3.2. Security Deposit:

  • An authorization hold will be placed on the primary driver’s credit card as a security deposit prior to vehicle departure.
  • This hold is processed via Wheelbase and will be released following the return of the vehicle, subject to inspection confirming no new damage, unpaid tolls, traffic tickets, or missing fuel.
3.3. Financial Responsibility: The Renter remains fully responsible for any damage, loss, vandalism, or theft of the vehicle not covered by the selected protection policy, as well as any applicable insurance deductibles.

4. Tolls, Fines, and Violations

4.1. SunPass / Express Lanes: Rent2Miami vehicles are enrolled in automatic tolling services (via transponder or Toll-by-Plate) for seamless travel on Florida toll roads (SunPass, Florida’s Turnpike, I-95 Express Lanes, etc.).

4.2. Toll Billing: All tolls incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative processing fee (if applicable), will be charged directly to the credit card on file in Wheelbase after the rental ends.

4.3. Traffic & Parking Citations: The Renter assumes 100% responsibility for all traffic violations, red-light camera fines, parking tickets, and towing or impound fees accrued during the rental term. Rent2Miami reserves the right to charge these amounts to the Customer’s card on file, including an administrative management fee per citation.

5. Pickup, Return, and Fuel Policies

5.1. Return Timing: Vehicles must be returned on the agreed-upon date, time, and location specified in the booking. Unauthorized late returns will incur late fees or an additional full-day rental charge.

5.2. Fuel Policy: Vehicles are delivered with a full tank (or a documented fuel level at check-in) and must be returned with the same fuel level. If returned with less fuel, a refueling charge plus a processing fee will apply.

5.3. Cleanliness Standard: Vehicles must be returned in reasonable condition. A deep-cleaning fee ($250 – $500 USD) will be charged if the vehicle is returned with excessive dirt, stains, hazardous spills, or odors requiring professional detailing.

6. Prohibited Uses & Vehicle Restrictions

Strict adherence to the following restrictions is mandatory:

  • NO SMOKING OR VAPING: Smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes/vapes, or cannabis inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited. Violators will face an automatic $500 USD detail and sanitization fee.
  • Pets: Pets are not permitted without prior written consent from Rent2Miami.
  • Commercial Use & Subleasing: Using the vehicle for rideshare services (Uber, Lyft), delivery services (DoorDash, UberEats), or subleasing to third parties is strictly forbidden.
  • Unauthorized Drivers: Allowing any individual not registered on the Wheelbase rental agreement to operate the vehicle is prohibited and voids all protection plans.
  • Geographic Boundaries: Vehicles may not be driven outside the State of Florida without prior written authorization from Rent2Miami.
  • Illegal & Reckless Activity: Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, street racing, towing other vehicles, or operating on unpaved/off-road surfaces is strictly illegal and prohibited.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation policies, refund eligibility windows, and applicable processing fees are governed by the specific cancellation policy chosen on the Wheelbase platform at the time of booking, as detailed in your reservation confirmation email.

8. Mechanical Breakdown & Roadside Assistance

In the event of a mechanical failure, accident, or emergency:

  1. Ensure the immediate safety of all passengers.
  2. Contact Rent2Miami immediately, as well as the 24/7 roadside assistance service provided through your Wheelbase/Outdoorsy protection package.
  3. In the event of an accident or collision, obtaining an official Police Report and documenting the scene with photographs and video is strictly mandatory.

9. Limitation of Liability & Governing Law

9.1. Governing Law: These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, construed, and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

9.2. Jurisdiction: Any legal dispute, claim, or action arising out of or relating to our services or vehicle usage shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

9.3. Exemption of Liability: Rent2Miami shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, loss of travel itineraries, or loss of personal property left inside the vehicle.
